Minister of Basic Education Angie motshekga has confirmed during a press briefing that all schools will re-open on 27 January 2021.
It has been a tough 2020, with the pandemic turning our lives upside down, the department of education has been running back and forth ensuring that all schools are running smoothly and all necessary support is provided in all provinces.
“All provinces have finalized admission processes. District offices will be on-site to aid parents where there is a need” Motshekga said.
According to Angie Mosthekga, almost 300 000 new learners are anticipated to enter the system next year. (2021).
Angie pointed out that one of the challenges is around grade 1 since they do not know what to anticipate of them as opposed to grade 8’s who are already in the system.
She added the fact that some of the predicament in admission is for grade 1 and grade 8s include late responses from parents and providing false documents
